DR. MAHDI YOOZBASHIZADEH
Dr. Mahdi Yoozbashizadeh joined the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at California State University, Long Beach in Fall 2013. He received his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering with the focus on Manufacturing, in 2012, an MS degree in Manufacturing Engineering, in 2009, and an MS degree in Mechanical Engineering Design, in 2007, all from University of Southern California (USC). He also worked as a lecturer and research associate in the field of Additive Maufacturing at USC on a project funded by NSF. He teaches undergraduate and graduate classes in the areas of Design, CAD/CAM, Manufacturing Processes, and Design of Experiments. He is the course coordinator for Design and manufacturing classes.
Dr. Yoozbashizadeh's research focuses on Liquid Rockets, Additive Manufacturing, 3D-Printing of Metals, Product Development, Design of Experiments, and Process/Product Improvement and Optimization. The last ten years working at 色中色, he has received numerous grants from local industries such as Northrop Grumman, Boeing, AFRL, DENSO, Space-X, and other companies nearing $1 million as PI and Co-Pi. His industry funded research grants are in the fields of Automation in Aerospace, Liquid Rocket developments, Plasma Treatment of Composite Structures, Wind Turbine inspection and maintenance, Additively manufactured metallic parts for aerospace applications. For the last ten years at 色中色 he has supervised more than 120 industrial grade senior design/product development projects. He established and directed the 色中色 product development lab in 2015 which currently supports the product development activities at 色中色. During his tenure year at 色中色 he published five journal papers and two patents in high impact prestigious journals such as Additive Manufacturing Journal and SPE Productions and Operations. He established and directed the new rocket lab at 色中色 through a grant funded by AFRL which is the center point for outreach, research and educational activities in the field of space systems.
