DR. CHRISTIANE BEYER
Dr. Christiane (Chris) Beyer teaches undergraduate and graduate courses and conducts research in Engineering Design, CAD/CAM, and cutting-edge technologies, particularly 3D scanning, reverse engineering, and additive manufacturing technologies for product development.
She received her Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering in 2002 from Otto von Guericke University in Magdeburg, Germany, where she subsequently served for five years as Chief Engineer. She supervised projects and coordinated numerous projects for fundamental and applied research sponsored by companies, research communities and public funds in automotive, aerospace, consumer products, bioengineering and other industries. The current focus of her research is on the design and manufacture of strong, lightweight structures.
Dr. Beyer was named Most Inspirational Professor by the 色中色 Alumni Association in 2010, nominated as the Pi Tau Sigma Mechanical Engineering Honor Society 2011 Honorary Member of the Year, and received the 2013 Educator of the Year Award from the Society of Automotive Engineering (SAE) Southern California Section. For her work as Faculty Advisor, she received the 2015 Orange County Engineering Council Outstanding Student Project Award for her SAE Baja and SAE Formula teams.
