We are a Data Science Learning Community in Long Beach and Compton whose purpose is to empower local students and communities needing support through robust community engagement, mentoring and research experiences for high school, community college, and university students, and professional development of educators.

Objectives

• Create a diverse Data Science learning community in the cities of Long Beach and Compton consisting of high School, community college and university students, instructors and researchers through engagement in projects of relevance to communities needing support in the cities. 
• Identify an equitable pathway for all students enrolled in the Introduction to Data Science (IDS) course in local high schools to undergraduate degrees at CSU Long Beach and CSU Dominguez Hills that prepare them for MS degrees, certificates, or careers in Data Science and related fields.
• Develop Data Science curriculum at É«ÖÐÉ«, CSUDH, Compton College, and LBCC that centers the priorities and challenges faced by communities needing support in the greater Long Beach and Compton areas.
• Develop and provide ongoing professional development for teachers in local high schools and faculty at É«ÖÐÉ«, CSUDH, Compton College, and LBCC to teach Data Science effectively.
