Project Category Descriptions and Examples
Projects from all majors and academic disciplines are eligible to be included in the Green Generation Showcase, however, because of the nature of the event, certain project formats are not appropriate to be displayed. These included research papers and PowerPoint presentations (unless recorded in advance and submitted as a video).
Projects submitted for consideration to be included in the showcase must adhere to one of the six project categories, as described below. If you are unsure which category is most appropriate for your project topic and format, please contact the Office of Sustainability at sustainability@csulb.edu.
Select this category if your project examines the complex relationship between sustainability/ environmental justice/ social equity and business, including analysis of the ways businesses manage their operations, develop, produce, and market their products and services with regard to their impact on people and the planet.

Select this category if your project explores ways that products, environments, or systems could be designed in new ways with the goal of solving a sustainability or social justice challenge. Projects in this category should present original design concepts and/or prototypes focused on sustainability solutions as opposed to analysis or critiques of existing products.

- Fashion Show/Garment designs (using sustainable, vegetable dyed fabrics) entitled 鈥淢aggie Evans Designs鈥
- Poster and design 3-D prototype entitled 鈥淜eramos: 3-piece utensil set made from sustainable materials鈥

Select this category if your project explores or demonstrates the ways in which technology or any discipline of engineering is or could be applied to address environmental and social justice challenges.

Select this category if your project explores findings from scientific research or field work related to ecosystems and/or interactions between the natural and man-made environment.

Select this category if your project focuses primarily on the ways in which public policy and/or education are being used to address environmental and social challenges, including issues related to environmental justice and social justice. This includes approaches to using various strategies to educate and mobilize people to adopt sustainable behaviors.
