FORP Peer Reviewer Program

FORP Faculty Peer Reviewers play a critical role in supporting the Faculty Online Readiness Program (FORP) by conducting reviews of online courses and sharing expertise with peers about their course development process.

The FORP course review process is a collaborative learning opportunity in which Peer Reviewers work closely with ATS Instructional Designers to provide thoughtful and constructive feedback to FORP participants and help foster a culture of mutual learning and growth.

Review the information and requirements below to determine if it's right for you. Contact ats-instructionaldesign@csulb.edu to indicate your interest. An ATS Instructional Designer will contact you to discuss the details.
 

Besides the satisfaction you will have from supporting colleagues and being part of a community of practice dedicated to online course quality, Peer Reviewers will receive:

  1. A stipend based on the number of reviews completed. Stipend requirements are outlined on the page below.
  2. A Letter of Support [PDF] for reappointment, tenure, and promotion (RTP).
  3. Digital badges at various milestones.

Faculty Peer Reviewers are familiar with course design, are well-versed in online course development and delivery, and have experience teaching online for multiple years.

Faculty Peer Reviewers are part of our É«ÖÐÉ« Quality Assurance Community of Practice and are certified in the following Quality Matters training:

  1. Attend a FORP Peer Reviewer orientation meeting.
  2. Work with an ATS Instructional Designer to facilitate communication with FORP participants.
  3. Complete a *minimum of one (1) course review using the FORP Course Training Checklist [PDF].

*The number of courses available to review depends on the number of FORP participants; there is no guarantee that Peer Reviewers will have more than one course to review per FORP program.

  • Faculty Peer Reviewers will receive $75 for completing their first course review.
  • The stipend amount will increase based on the number of courses reviewed. Review the FORP Peer Review Compensation Framework​​​​​ [PDF] to see the stipend increments and estimated completion time. 
  • Peer Reviewers are limited to a maximum of three course reviews per FORP session (3 sessions= total maximum of 9 reviews for the entirety of FORP).

Please note: The number of courses available to review depends on the number of FORP participants; there is no guarantee that Peer Reviewers will have more than one course to review per FORP program.

FORP Peer Reviewers will be enrolled in the Peer Reviewer Resource Canvas course. This course contains helpful aids and documentation for your reference.

Additionally, grading and badges will be set up in this course to keep track of the reviews you complete during FORP. Badges will be awarded after reaching each milestone. Badges are awarded for up to 100 reviews.

How many courses can I review?
Peer Reviewers can review up to 3 courses per FORP session, for a maximum of 9 total.

What level of feedback I am expected to provide?
Peer Reviewers are expected to examine courses using the Course Training Checklist [PDF] based on the standards. Reviewers will identify evidence of how the standards are met and provide applicable recommendations for improvement.

Will I be required to review courses for all 42 standards of the Quality Matters Rubric?
The course reviews for FORP will be based on an abbreviated set of QM Rubric standards (no more than 7 standards).

If I am a Peer Reviewer for multiple FORP sessions, will I be assigned different FORP participants for each course?
You may be assigned to different participants in each FORP Training Course. If possible, we will try to match you with the same participant throughout the program, if they participate in more than one.

If I am a Peer Reviewer for multiple courses, will I work with different Instructional Designers for each course?
If you will review multiple courses, you will be assigned to work with the same instructional designer throughout the program.
